Harry Styles

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Becoming a member of one of the world’s most successful boy bands and graduating to one of the world’s biggest solo pop stars is no easy feat. It takes more than talent, good looks, and charisma, all of which Harry Styles has in spades. It also takes dedication, hard work, and something special that only comes along once in a generation. The French describe it as "Je ne sais quoi," but whatever “it” is, it’s like lightning in a bottle, and Harry is that lighting.

In this event episode of the Spout Podcast, host Tamara Dhia sits down with Harry following the release of his new album, “Harry’s House,” which the world has been obsessing over for weeks. Now you'll hear directly from Harry on his personal favorite songs on the album, the motivation behind them, and what song almost didn't make the cut.

As is always the case on the Spout Podcast, Harry spouts off on more than what he's famous for. He talks about his evolution as a creator, his fear of no longer making music, and his opinion on how relationships go from dating to falling in love.

Plus, he even answers the million-dollar question about a possible 1D reunion!

Becoming a member of one of the most successful boy bands in the world and graduating into one of the biggest solo pop stars in the world is no easy feat. It takes more than talent, good looks and charisma, which this artist has in spades, but it also takes dedication, hard work and that certain special something that comes along once in a generation. The French describe it as Genessee Qua, but really it's like lightning in a bottle, and Harry styles is that lightning leaving everything's the word. Seems. You've can move. Coming off the runaway success of his Grammy Winning Sophomore Effort, fine line, which debut at number one on the billboard charts, as did his self titled Baby Album, Harry is back with Harry's house, an album he has said quote I've always wanted to make. My favorite thing about it is like it just feels the most like me. Yeah, so, like I remember, you know, he told to people and they're like, oh, albums and never finished. They just like take you off you. Yeah, and this was definitely the most that. It's okay, that's it. I'm your host, Tamordia, and this is the spout podcast, where celebrities spout off about more than what they're famous for, and today that's Harry styles. Never count away a little whow hi, Tam Ral, Hey Harry, how are you?...

I'm very well. Thank you. How are you? I'm great. Thank you. I feel like I got invited into Harry's house, so I am very good. This is it. I chose this. I love it, very nice, exactly what I imaginedly my ideal space. Yeah, well, first off, congratulations on Harry's house. I'm one of the millions, of course. Yeah, I look. I'm one of the millions of people that played fine line on repeat. So I have been steady for this. Oh Gosh. Yeah, thank you for making amazing music. You know, obviously a lot has happened in between these two albums. So what would you say is the biggest difference between the Harry who made fine line and the Harry who made Harry's house? I would say I'd say the Harry that made Harry's house is probably the most comfortable being said Harry that that he's that I've ever been. I think I just I think, like obviously all of us went through something the last couple of years and and I think through some time that I don't think I'd necessarily had the kind of kind of stop and sit with like who I was for a while. I think, you know, music is kind of I used to be so afraid of kind of who I was if I didn't do it, and I don't feel kind of afraid of that anymore and I think in a lot of ways that allows me to just enjoy it more. And I think, you know, I've always felt incredibly lucky to get to do this as my job, but I feel like more and more I kind of feel like just incredibly like lucky that this is what I get to do and and I think, you know, I feel like I'm...

...falling more and more in love with with making music. He's time I get there and you know, that's a really fun place to make music from. So Nice. Yeah, I mean it's a fun place for us to hear the music coming gays. As soon as Harry's house was released, it immediately became the fastest selling album of two thousand and twenty two after just one weekend of streaming. In sales, Harry also managed to occupy the entire top ten of the US spotify chart with tracks from Harry's house, and it's lead single, as it was, has become the year's longest running number one hit, with seven weeks at the top of the build or charts. Harry himself and the track music for a Sushi restaurant has already been used in an ad by apple to bring back their famous two thousand and three. I've had silhouettes campaign whose we to use close to shoes. With so many of the songs getting so much immediate attention, it's always a curious thought to ponder if there is a personal favorite on the album. Is there a song on Harry's House that is a personal favorite of yours? I would say Matilda's probably postal favorite. You critical. You can throw a party full of everyone you know not invite your family because thing never showed you love. Don't have to be sorry. Leafing. Maybe low fruit was a personal favorite. May as well, because...

I think it was. It was real and made in a hotel room in Tokyo and was kind of done on you know, this like really bad rental year and stuff, and they were all these kind of like buzz noises and stuff, because the year wasn't great and that went through so many different iterations of the song before it finally got to a place where it felt like it was finished, and I'm so happy that it's kind of done because, you know, I think it's like version nineteen point something, so I love the lyrics on that one. I thank you. Just thinking, just thinking. We've all seen that girl at work or the grocery store or shopping and are mesmerized by her luxurious hair. While Harry's music obviously stands at center stage, his personal life, which he attempts to keep us private as possible, has become fodder for speculation and gossip amongst his dedicated fan base. As Harry is set to star in his first leading actor role in the upcoming film don't worry, Darling, which is getting a lot of critical buzz, it was what was happening behind the scenes that set social media of blades. Rumors began to swirl that Harry was dating Olivia Wild, is Costar and director of the film and you're making a movie, it is easy to fall in love, and you too had love scenes like I had in my movie private pardon. You fell in love on a movie ship. Wow, I have to answer this question. I think I had a wonderful experience being directed by Olivia. Being able to trust your director is a gift. So naturally, fans poured over the lyrics to every song on Harry's house, looking for any clues that might show a little insight into his relationship with Olivia, and quickly settled on the track cinema. Just think your code. I did your code. You know. Love is obviously a very,...

...very big eme in Harry's house, but a stand up to the cinema in the lyrics you say. I just think you're cool. I dig your cinema. Do you think I'm cool too, or am I two into you and Harry? I gotta say, it's hard for me to imagine a world where you feel like you aren't cool enough for someone that you're interested in. So are are? Do you actually feeled out away? And yet we are all human and Yah thinks, you know. I thinks like you know. When you know when you like someone and you that kind of initial phase of like my doing things right and before your kind of, you know, comfortable with each other or whatever, and it's all that kind of like you know, you know, all of that stuff that happens at the stuff something. So yeah, it's it's a nice things. That will be quite to says. And Baby, it's only been in company days. Album. A release week for an artist of this magnitude is always an exciting time, but nerve racking as well. Well, fans love it as much as the last album? Will labels be happy with the numbers? Well, the artist feel creatively fulfilled? That's when it's most important to have the support of people around you. In my conversation with former spout podcast to love Adele, she spoke about how her relationship with Drake helped her get through the pressure. Who Does Harry turn to? Um? I think I try and I try and man, that's interesting question. I think like oversee along the along the way at different times...

...in you know, where you're touring or making an album and all the different stuff, like you kind of run into people and talk with friends in the industry and stuff for you kind of you know, just discuss like what that moment feels like. But I think I think like I don't know. I'm trying experience a little bit and kind of see how I deal with it and try and learn from that. So I guess there isn't someone particularly that I'd say like a turned to for a try and I think my my friends kind of bear the run of most of my insecurities in those moments. But yeah, I'm just trying to like relax and have a good time. I feel really good about the music at month, which helps. So yeah, I'm excited. While Harry has undoubtedly become one of the biggest solo pop stars in the world, love time, fans will remember where he got his start. Hello, nice to meet you. What's your name? I'm Harry Styles. Okay, as one fifth of the boy band one direction on the show x factor at the sixteen years old, got to but what's gonna Happen to one direction now? We're definitely going to stay together. This is at a loss of rebelction. This is just the beginning for these boys. Since announcing their indefinite hiatus and early two thousand and sixteen, and with all of the former members going on to release Solo albums, the eternal question remains. Will they ever reunite? So, of course I asked Harry before. There was Harry's House and fine line in your self titled Debut Album, there was a full night and take me home and made in the as. Yes, do you think that there will ever be a day when you and the boys would share the stage together again? I don't know, I mean, I think. I think the thought of that is really nice one, I think. You...

...know, I'd love the time where it felt like something we all wanted to do and and you know, I'm very much enjoyed those albums that you mentioned and you know, I think we all went through something really special together and there's a lot of this. Yeah, I think. I think if there's a moment for us to do it in the right way, I think could be great. Yes, I'm excited too. I'm excited to catch you on tour when you come to Los Angeles. congratulated. Yeah, congratulations again. have an I so much. Okay, thy Harry.
