...so full disclosure. I've been meaning to try out a meal kit program for probably years. At this point, it's just one of those things I'm like. I'm going to get to it. I'm gonna do it. I'm going to cook for myself. I wanted to be healthy, and I just didn't, for whatever reason, finally tried out Green Chef, and I cannot tell you how much of a game changer this is. You start off by selecting the type of meal kit you want, right? So whatever you're feeling that week or whatever diet you're on, you have Keto and paleo vegetarian, vegan, Mediterranean and more. I went with the plant powered option and let me tell you this caramelized onion flatbread that I made I cooked. This not only was incredible, but I'm sitting there going. I've definitely paid way more for a chef prepared version of this that wasn't as good. And that goes for all of the meals that I prepared, by the way. Plus, the meal kits are beyond sustainable. Green Chef is the most sustainable meal kit, offsetting 100% of their plastic packaging in every box and 100% of their carbon footprint and emissions huge. The kids are so convenient they are so easy. Whether you are someone that knows what they're doing in the...

...kitchen or you've never actually turned on the stove in your life. Doesn't matter. Green Chef makes it super easy, step by step from start to finish. So if you're ready to change the way you cook, go to green chef dot com slash spout 10 and use the code spout 10 to get 10 free meals, including free shipping again, that is green chef dot com slash spout 10. Yeah, hi, My name is Phil Becker. I am the creator and one of the producers of the Spout podcast, and I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to listen to our podcast as we wrap up the end of the year. It's been a crazy year with some incredible guests. We had Ed Sheeran on the show. I was so in the process, the thing of just being like every day I have to work every day. I have to achieve something, and sometimes sometimes your day you can just be existing and letting what happens happen. Adele. Definitely more than anything. My brain is bloody on fire right now. It's my brain is happy and it's fed and it's calm and it's hard work together after post after a...

...divorce. So, yeah, definitely. I put all my effort into that, and I think maybe it's just my good rain that radiates now. Billie Eilish. It's a thing that we should all be able to do is say, You know, I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't I'm not. This isn't my thing, even though I want to be. I want to do this because I want to be able to say that I'm capable of this. But I'm still learning lizzo. I want to expand my empire into other places, you know, like fashion and anywhere There is a need for representation. I'll be there. A very sexy Shawn Mendez. I think I'm a bit of a coffee snob, to be honest with you, but at the same time, like sometimes when you're like in a hotel and there's like that coffee out of the pot pot and it's like at the bottom right before you walk out the door like it's really the drug that is the best part about it, which is caffeine and BTS crazily twice. You know, we love just the moment when people listen to the soft for the first...

...time as like like panic and, you know, like freak out. That's the That's the most thrilling part, an exciting part that we love. So while Spout goes away for a couple of weeks for the holiday and begins producing our next episodes, I wanted to let you know about a podcast that we came across that I found super interesting. Now, on Spout, we talk about where famous people spout off about more than what they're famous for. But the podcast I want to tell you about today is exactly what you don't. I want to be famous or infamous. For now, I've always kind of been a reality t v junkie, If you think about it. In my opinion, the first reality TV show was the real world. This is the true story. True story. seven strangers picked to live in a lot and have their lives taped up to find out what happens. What when people stop being polite? Could you get the phone and start getting real? The real world that was...

...the first show MTV created an entirely new category of media. But see, the thing is, when someone starts something, someone else always copies it right. So they started in the mid nineties. But by time the early two thousand's came around, millions of households around the world were watching some iteration of reality TV. The winner of the first Survivor competition is rich. Congratulations, rich on one show, it might be. Who's gonna get the roads on the next show? It might be Who's getting voted off the island? Who gets to stay on the island on the next show? Big Brother's watching. And we had a million reality shows all over our television, See? But here's a challenge with reality TV. It seems like every idea has kind of been done before, so...

...you have to be bigger. You have to be flashier. You have to be more scandalous. Remember Temptation Island, a whole island full of temptations? Well, when you're pushing the envelope that far, sometimes people might go a little too far. In one case, there was this infamous dating show where, like the real drama happened off the screen tonight, the most explosive dating experience of a lifetime, and it would shape the future of reality TV forever. Reality TV series was called There's Something About Miriam. It seems like pretty much a standard dating competition. Six guys, one Myriads attention. They vie for her affection. She's this beautiful model for Mexico. But then there was twist. Miriam is no ordinary woman. Miriam revealed that she was a Trans woman during the show's finale. So then all this on screen drama that you would expect happens, right? But then it becomes this...

...international uproar about gender and sexuality. And could it be that the media industry, and in particular reality TV, had gone too far? Well, in the podcast that I'd like You to binge through the holiday break, one represents harsh reality. The story of Miriam Rivera. And they talk about what happened not on the show but behind the show and how a multimillion dollar lawsuit began. Media fallout was everywhere, and the lives of Miriam and the contestants not only changed forever, but they changed the actual rules of reality TV. I want to play you a clip of this podcast so you get a real understanding of how insane this show became how it impacted everyone in a way that will never forget and an ending that I absolutely never saw coming. This is harsh reality. The story of Miriam Rivera Don passes long...

...rows of desks lined with brand new Apple Macs clear with turquoise backs. On each desk is a cup of branded turquoise pins, with the name of their company printed on the side. Brighter pictures in the conference room, they have Dom Sign, a nondisclosure agreement. Standard practice. Then they switch on a screen. Yeah, I was shown a video of Miriam. In my world, we all know Miriam. We all know how captivating she is, so I have no trouble imagining what Tom was thinking looking at her. But one thing. She's beautiful. The camera loves her. She could be a movie star. Straight, glossy black hair, the latest designer shades perched on top of her head, long...

...tan legs for days. But a lot of people are beautiful. Miriam is magnetic. Yeah, At the time she was 21, living in New York and working as a model. You can tell from her smile that she's got a sense of humor. She's flirting with the camera turning and walking away, answering questions about her hobbies. Watching the footage, it's hard not to love her. Video ends dumb nuts. You see a lot of the screen test videos when you work in TV, but Dom can tell there's something special about Miriam. Mhm. He looks over at Remy, who was watching him intently. Is he missing something? You didn't have a clue what was going on until Remedy said, Well,...

...the thing is, she's got a And then I realized everything was a bit different. And that's the show. That's the pitch Joe Pilkington had heard in her office at Sky, the one that's going to upend reality TV as we know it. Push the culture forward, excavate the profound and twisted depths of male sexuality. The show that's going to be a hit and the name of the show. There's something about Miriam. six open minded liberal guys will spend two weeks in an island paradise with Miriam, though complete challenges go on dates and try to win her heart. one x one, she'll send them home. She'll choose a winner and then she'll tell him on National TV with the producers have been making her keep to herself.

The cameras will be rolling, the lucky winners face in frame and everyone watching at home will wait with bated breath to see what he'll say next. And that Boys and Girls is entertainment from wondering. And novel comes a new story about love. We had discussions. What if you actually fell in love and she'd say, Well, that would be great but it's very unlikely lies If the secret got out, it was game over for the show and reality TV. I can't remember whether it was ever proved or just a rumor that the villa has been used for porn films. Just have that feel about it. I was just blunt with them and was like, Yeah, you should feel guilty, actually, because you signed up for this and you knew what you were doing. They ripped her apart. The British tabloid press rupture apart. They stitch yourself. We're gonna stitch them up as best we can. Why, why would you do this? Who are you to do this? Do you realize the damage you've done by doing this?...
